About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in cloud data architecture, data modelling, BI reporting, and modern data lake technologies. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building and maintaining scalable, high-performance data solutions on our cloud data platform to support advanced analytics and business intelligence for our customers and across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of experience, operates with a high level of collaboration and proactivity, and is comfortable working in AI-powered development environments. You will have strong hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS Redshift, Snowflake, or Google BigQuery, along with solid knowledge of CI/CD practices. 

What you will do

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and evolving our data infrastructure. You'll work closely with engineering teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our data systems.

  • End-to-End Ownership: Lead the full lifecycle of data solutions—from gathering requirements to delivering insights.
  • Architecture Design: Design and implement the architecture for a new Customer Business Intelligence (BI) system.
  • Data Engineering: Build and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines, applying data modeling techniques to support a robust platform.
  • Cloud Data Warehousing: Drive best practices in schema design, query optimization, and cost management on platforms like Snowflake or Redshift.
  • Data Governance: Ensure data quality, consistency, and lineage through strong governance and documentation.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce infrastructure costs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers to integrate the customer BI stack with the Booking Application..
  • Infrastructure Support: Maintain and enhance existing data infrastructure used by internal teams and customers.
  • Documentation: Keep clear and up-to-date documentation for models, pipelines, and processes.
  • Pragmatic Execution: Deliver high-quality, practical solutions with a focus on business impact.
 

What we are looking for

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, working across large-scale distributed systems.
  • Proven expertise in data architecture, including designing scalable, reliable, and cost-effective data platforms and pipelines in cloud environments.
  • Proven expertise with cloud data platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Snowflake.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing scalable data pipelines for both batch and streaming workloads.
  • Hands-on experience integrating diverse data sources, including relational databases, NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB), file systems, APIs, and real-time event streams.
  • Proficient in SQL and Python, with strong capabilities in manipulating large structured and semi-structured datasets.
  • Deep Experience of data modeling (normalized, denormalized, star/snowflake schemas) and modern tools like dbt.
  • Strong background in building scalable Embedded Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Experience with modern table formats like Apache Iceberg for managing large-scale datasets.
  • Deep understanding of performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting across data platforms.
  • Solid foundation in software engineering practices, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps and automated testing in a data context.
  • Experience with microservices and event-driven architecture, including tools like AWS Lambda, SNS, and SQS.
  • Comfortable working with various file formats (e.g., JSON, Parquet, Avro) in data engineering pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR compliance with the ability to design data systems that support privacy, data retention, and access control requirements.
